The Usage of 2-furaldehyde

Furfural plays a key role in numerous industries:

As a Selective Solvent:

1. Used in petroleum refining to selectively extract and separate saturated from unsaturated hydrocarbons, and is an excellent solvent for lubricant purification.

2. Serves as an effective solvent for synthetic resins (e.g., phenolic resins, furan resins).

As a Chemical Synthesis Intermediate:

1.Its most significant derivatives are Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and Furfuryl Alcohol.

2.Furfuryl Alcohol is further used to produce Furan Resins, known for exceptional corrosion and heat resistance, widely used as sand binders in the foundry industry.
