The Usage of Propionic acid
Propionic acid is an important fine chemical and an intermediate of many other fine chemicals. It is mainly used as food and feed additives, followed by home medicine precious herbs and medicines, spices and so on. In the field of grain and feed additives, the application effect of propionic acid is remarkable, and the consumption is growing rapidly. (1) Oral additives. Calcium propionate and sodium propionate can prevent food spoilage caused by microbial action, extend food preservation time, and effectively used in the preservation of bread and pastries. (2) Grain preservatives. Propionic acid has been successfully used to prevent mildew and caking of grain, which provides a new method for long-term storage of grain. (3) Beverage preservative. It is proved that propionic acid, sodium propionate and calcium propionate are good feed preservatives, which are mostly used to preserve feed for pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry, among which calcium propionate has the best effect. Zinc propionate and cadmium propionate in propionate are polyester catalysts for the production of terephthalate. There are many varieties of propionate, with their own uses, can be used as solvents, fragrances, pharmaceutical intermediates, cosmetic additives, resin modifiers, cigarette filter plasticizers, gas oil antiknock agents, antibacterial agents and so on.

Storage conditions for Propionic acid:
Storage Precautions Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The temperature of the storage is not more than 32℃, and the relative humidity is not more than 80%.
