Appearance: Clear colorless to light yellow liquid
Stability :
1. Colorless to light yellow liquid, with a burnt sweet woody aroma.
Soluble in ethanol and organic solvents, slightly soluble in water, content more than 99%.
2. Strong phenol properties and moderate toxicity. It irritates the skin. Large doses can irritate the esophagus and stomach, causing heart failure, collapse and death. Rats were orally LD50:725mg/kg and subcutaneously injected LD50:900mg/kg. Its toxicity and protection methods are described in phenol.
3. It exists in flue-cured tobacco leaves, burley tobacco leaves, flavored tobacco leaves and flue gas.
4. Naturally occurring in rue oil, celery seed oil, tobacco oil, orange leaf distillate and castoreum.

The Usage of Guaiacol
Guaiacol is commonly used to produce various spices, such as eugenol, vanillin, and artificial musk. Guaiacol is also widely used in medicine, as it can be used to synthesize benzenesulfonic acid guaiacol (Guaiacol Chemicalbook Potassium Sulfonate), as a local anesthetic or preservative, as well as to dispel phlegm and treat indigestion. Due to its reducibility, it is often added in small amounts as an antioxidant in cosmetics and often used together with synergists, metal ion chelators, etc.
